Dr. Robyn L. Gobin is a licensed psychologist, tenured associate professor, author, consultant, and mindfulness meditation teacher dedicated to advancing mental health and well-being through research, advocacy, and education. A nationally recognized expert on interpersonal trauma, Black women’s mental health, and self-care, she has over a decade of experience as a trauma researcher and therapist, supporting survivors on their healing journeys.
Dr. Gobin has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, delivered continuing education trainings at national and international conferences, and secured competitive funding from agencies including the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Committed to making psychological science accessible, she has authored four public-facing books, including The Black Woman’s Guide to Overcoming Domestic Violence.
Her bestselling book, The Self-Care Prescription, has been featured in Essence and Woman’s World, and she has been sought after by outlets such as NPR, Forbes, CBS, TVOne, and Blavity for her expertise on trauma, culturally responsive practices, and self-care.
Dr. Gobin earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oregon and completed fellowships at Brown University and the San Diego Veterans Affairs Hospital. She serves on advisory boards for the Boris L. Henson Foundation and Bay Area Trauma Recovery Clinical Services. National organizations, including CVS Pharmacy, have consulted her on mental health, self-care, and equity in wellness marketing.
Her contributions have been recognized with multiple early career awards, a Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association (APA), and, most recently, election as a Fellow of APA in three divisions: Division 35 (Society for the Psychology of Women), Division 45 (Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity, and Race), and Division 56 (Trauma Psychology).
