Kim Foreman, LCSW, is a co-owner/co-founder and psychotherapist with Wholehearted Counseling, a private psychotherapy practice with locations in Virginia Beach and Carrollton, Virginia. Wholehearted Counseling opened in 2018. Kim has been in private practice for 15 years and has over 20 years of direct service experience. Prior to entering private practice, Kim worked in various non-profit settings, as a psychotherapist with adults and adolescents, then eventually as a Program Director. Kim holds a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University (1991) and a Master's in Social Work from Norfolk State University (2000).
Kim specializes in the treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders. She is passionate about learning, as well as teaching. Kim currently manages a study group through Wholehearted Counseling, to assist therapists who are interested in expanding their knowledge in the treatment of trauma and dissociation. She hopes to expand client treatment options by assisting additional therapists in the identification and treatment of individuals with dissociative disorders.
Kim joined the ISSTD in 2021 and completed EMDR training through ISSTD in 2022. She was previous the Moderator and now serves Co-Chair for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Online Community. Kim was a group leader with Purdue University's Finding Solid Ground Groups Project. She assisted in conducting the intervention, data collection, and critical review and participated in presenting results at ISSTD's 2024 Annual Conference. She runs a Finding Solid Ground group through her practice. Kim is appreciative of the opportunity to contribute to a group of clients she deeply respects.
