Lisa Danylchuk, LMFT, E-RYT, is a licensed psychotherapist and founder of The Center for Yoga and Trauma Recovery. A graduate of UCLA and Harvard University (M.Ed. in Risk and Prevention, 2006; C.A.S., 2007), she has been a leader in bringing trauma-informed yoga into the mental health field and expanding how embodiment practices are understood in clinical care.
Lisa created the Yoga for Trauma Online Training Program in 2015, established the Center for Yoga and Trauma Recovery in 2017, and launched the How We Can Heal Podcast in 2022. The podcast features conversations with leading voices in trauma, dissociation, and healing, and received the Audio Visual Media Award from the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) in 2025.
She is the author of three books: Embodied Healing: Using Yoga to Recover from Trauma and Extreme Stress (2015), How You Can Heal: A Strength-Based Guide to Trauma Recovery (2017), and Yoga for Trauma Recovery: Theory, Philosophy, and Practice (2019). Lisa also served as a contributing editor for Best Practices for Yoga for Veterans, published by the Yoga Service Council. Her writing has been published by the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and other professional outlets, and she shares her work through presentations and trainings worldwide.
Lisa served as President of the ISSTD in 2022, is a fellow of the Society, and has also served as Secretary, Board member, Committee Chair, and longtime volunteer. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her partner, Alex, their daughter, and two fur babies.
