Aimee McCann is the owner of a small group private practice, Golden Oak Counseling, LLC, specializing in the treatment of CPTSD, Dissociative Disorders and treatment failure. She serves as CEO/Founder of Banyan Mental Health, a 501c3 non-profit organization intending to bring trauma-focused IOP/PHP and supportive programming to Central Ohio serving those with CPSTD, Dissociative, Borderline Personality and Eating Disorders to reduce inpatient treatment trauma and improve overall health outcomes through Somatic-based treatment approaches. As co-author of the Finding Solid Ground Groups study through Purdue University, Aimee plans to make FSG psychoeducation as the foundation to Banyan Mental Health IOP/PHP curriculum.
Earning her BSW in 1989 from Capital University and MSW from The Ohio State University in 1991, Aimee brings a macro and micro lens after years of work in pediatric and adult hospitals, nonprofit organizations in prevention services, family preservation and trauma therapy, child protective services and mental health consumer group development. Aimee provides supervision and consultation hoping to increase her community’s capacity to provide accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment and reduce
re-traumatizing events in all levels of healthcare. Aimee is a speaker, trainer and author with a professional and lived experience perspective.
Valuing continuous learning, she is trained in Deep Brain Reorienting, Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders (L1), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (L1), Finding Solid Ground, EMDR, IFS-informed, DBT, Attachment Theory, TF-CBT and Complex Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). Aimee serves on the NASW Ohio Legislative Advocacy Committee and served as Secretary of the Acute Care Special Interest Group of ISSTD January 2024-March 2025 in addition to other volunteer and membership activities throughout her career.
